A bit like marmite – Wills and Kate graffiti, Liverpool Rd, Islington

There is some high quality stuff being sprayed onto walls (and not by the local cats either) in London these days. I keep seeing a great recurring piece on No Entry signs that I will get round to capturing on here. In the meantime here is something that made me laugh out loud when I drove past it on Liverpool Rd in Islington yesterday. Topical graffiti – Banksy eat your heart out!

Early eighteenth century bone memento mori skull

I couldn’t resist this miniature skull (not to mention it was about £1000 cheaper than anything else on display) when I visited Olympia Antiques last weekend. Next was finding the right sized glass dome – one in photo is the smallest I could get – it’s from a manufacturer of dolls house furniture!

Objects and Curiosities – D and L Company

Billing themselves as ‘Modern Alchemists and Purveyors of Curious Goods’ the D&L Company produces a range of inspired objects – from skulls in brass and silver – perfectly rendered in anatomical detail to Memento Mori and a ranges of scented candles in bejeweled boxes. These are seriously indulgent objects – expensive certainly but oozing with charm and sinister delight.

Here are my favourite pieces from their collections:

New Faile print – Fashion Chimps NYC

Fastest fingers first for this new Faile print – Fashion Chimps NYC.

The Papermonsters blurb on the new print is as follows:

This brand new print from the guys at Faile was a long time in the making, and it shows.  Based on a piece from their 2010 show at Perry Rubenstein Gallery, this 25 color screenprint is done in their recent “block” style which gives the illusion of its 3D sister from the show.

At $800 its something of a bargain and still available at time of posting here

New Takashi Murakami paintings for Art Basel shown on Twitter

For the keen observers of Takashi Murakami’s twitter feed @takashipom there has been a recent surge in photos of wonderful new paintings. I believe these are destined for the international art show Art Basel. For those unable to make it to Basel (myself included) here are the new works:
