A bit like marmite – Wills and Kate graffiti, Liverpool Rd, Islington

There is some high quality stuff being sprayed onto walls (and not by the local cats either) in London these days. I keep seeing a great recurring piece on No Entry signs that I will get round to capturing on here. In the meantime here is something that made me laugh out loud when I drove past it on Liverpool Rd in Islington yesterday. Topical graffiti – Banksy eat your heart out!

Mr. Brainwash

Mr. Brainwash 'Dont be cruel'

Mr. Brainwash 'Dont be cruel'

The infamous urban artist Mr. Brainwash’s unmistakable style features cultural icons such as Michael Jackson, Madonna, Jackson Pollock and Albert Einstein. The result is both rousing and incendiary and has launched Mr. Brainwash to an iconic level of his own. With Mr. Brainwash’s recent accomplishment of landing the cover of Madonna’s upcoming greatest hits album to sold out shows in both Los Angeles and London, this is only a taste of what is to come from this burgeoning artist. Mr. Brainwash does not fit the stereotype of your average street vandal. Mr. Brainwash’s artistic process chiefly consists of throwing random modern cultural icons into a blender and turning it up to eleven. The results are by profound, provocative and inspirational.

I must pass this poster at least 5 times a week. It’s pasted to a boarded up derelict building on Camden Road in London.

The strippers, silhouettes and sexy lines of Julian Opie

Opie’s work is probably strangely familiar to fans of Blur already, but to those with better music taste his work my be just what you have been looking for!

Hypnotically simple lines lull you into his work – often before you realise what the subject matter is.

Check out a taste of his work below:
